In recent years, pigeon culling has been carried out in various parts of Singapore as a method of population control. But culling is not only inhumane—it’s also ineffective.
- Pigeons, like all animals, play a role in our urban ecosystem. When culled, the population quickly rebounds due to the availability of food and nesting sites. This cycle of killing and regrowth does little to address the root causes of human-pigeon conflict.
- At ACRES, we believe in science-based, compassionate solutions. The key lies in public education, waste management, and responsible feeding practices. By reducing food sources and modifying habitats, we can humanely and effectively manage pigeon populations.
- Killing is not a solution. It is a symptom of our unwillingness to coexist.
Help us advocate for kinder, evidence-based approaches to urban wildlife management. Together, let’s create a city that’s compassionate to all living beings.
